recommend

1

I recommend to book a hotel in advance.
I recommend booking a hotel in advance.

When no person is mentioned, use recommend + -ing, not recommend + to-infinitive: ‘I recommend booking in advance.’ ‘She recommended taking the train.’

2

I recommend you selling the car.
I recommend that you sell the car.
I recommend that you should sell the car.

To say what a particular person should do, use recommend (that) + subject + base form: ‘I recommend that you sell the car.’

We can also use recommend (that) + subject + should + base form: ‘I recommend that you should sell the car.’

In the first structure, the base form is called the subjunctive. The verb does not change after he/she/it: ‘I recommend that she sell the car.’

In British English you can also use the pattern ‘recommend someone to do something’, but it is rarely used and it may sound incorrect to many English speakers.
